Niagara Prosperity Initiative
NIAGARA REGION, September 15, 2010 - Three Niagara businesses were recognized today for their support of the Niagara Prosperity Initiative and the Niagara Garden Network - a group of nine community gardens across the region.
"The Niagara Prosperity Initiative is about government, business and the community working together to address and prevent poverty," said Welland Mayor and Regional Councilor Damian Goulbourne.
Standing in front of the Hope Centre Community Garden in Welland, Goulbourne presented plaques to representatives of three Niagara businesses who donated supplies to Niagara's community gardens.
"I applaud these business leaders for stepping up to support the garden network, which is an important and effective community-building tool," said Goulbourne. "Their generosity and involvement will hopefully serve to inspire others to support and participate in the Niagara Prosperity Initiative."
The three businesses recognized for supporting the community gardens in 2010 were:

- Stokes Seeds Ltd. - provided wide variety of seeds, including corn, beans, beets, carrots, peas, spinach and radishes.
